Adaptive Clothing - What You Need to Know
Adaptive clothing is clothing that has been specifically designed to greatly benefit those with special needs due to illness or disability. As well as benefiting the wearer of the clothing it should be designed in such a way that there are serious advantages for the carer too, whose job is often that of assisting those suffering long term illness or disability with dressing and undressing.
For those who suffer conditions including the following:- Dementia, Multiple sclerosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Motor Neurone and Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's and stroke victims etc, the problems encountered with dressing on a daily basis are huge and can if not considered carefully add to the level of suffering already being experienced.
We all like to dress nicely, our clothing, when comfortable and pleasing to the eye makes us feel good about ourselves and we should not under estimate its power to lift the way we feel both physically and psychologically. The right, and subsequently best adaptive clothing can be therefore a very positive and powerful experience with regards to the 'quality of life' of those we love and care for.
